Abstract

The clasp of the bracelet is of the wallet type including two articulated blades (strips) (4, 5), the first receiving a first strand (2) of a bracelet and the second a buckle (8) to which a second strand (3) of the bracelet, provided with a plurality of perforations (9), can be fastened. The buckle (8) has the shape of a U formed from two branches (10, 11) connected at their first free ends by a small bar (12) serving as an articulated fastening of the buckle to the second blade (5). The branches (10, 11) are connected at their second ends by a bridge (13), the length of which, taken in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet, is dimensioned so as not to cover over the small bar (12), this bridge being provided with a stud (14) capable of penetrating into one of the perforations (9). In this way, the overall thickness of the clasp is adapted to the thickness of the strands forming the bracelet. The strands of the bracelet are flexible, made from leather or from synthetic materials.

Description

PORTFOLIO FASTENER WITH BUCKLE
The present invention relates to a clasp for bringing together first and second strands of a flexible bracelet, said clasp comprising first and second blades hinged together by one of their ends, said blades comprising means for fixing themselves 'one on the other in the closed position, the other end of the first blade being provided with a bar for the articulated fixing of the first strand of the bracelet on the first blade, while the other end of the second blade is provided with a loop for the articulated fixing of the second strand of the bracelet on the second blade, this second strand being provided with a plurality of perforations.

Document GB-A-757556 already describes a wallet type clasp comprising two tears articulated one on the other, the free end of one of the tears carrying a hinged stirrup under the bridge of which one of the strands of the bracelet, the securing of the strand being carried out by means of a stud adjacent to the bridge and passing through one of the perforations with which the strand is provided. In this system, the bridge of the stirrup is superimposed on its articulation on the blade, so that the branches of the stirrup will have to be long enough to allow the different thicknesses of strand to be fitted under the bridge likely to equip the bracelet. We are thus led to a reiatively thick clasp even for a bracelet fitted with thin leather.

The same drawback affects the clasp described in the GB document
A-2158145 which shows a kind of loop presenting a large surface bridge, this bridge succeeding in covering the articulation by which the loop is attached to one of the blades of the clasp.

The clasp of the present invention does not show such a drawback since the height of the buckle with which it is provided adapts to the thickness of the leather with which the bracelet is fitted. For this purpose, the clasp is characterized in that the buckle has the shape of a U formed by two first branches connected at their first free ends by a bar serving to fix the buckle to the second blade of the clasp, said two branches being connected at their second ends by a first apparent bridge whose width taken in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet is dimensioned so as not to cover the bar of the buckle, the bridge being fitted with a stud capable of penetrating one of the perforations of the second strand to attach said second strand to the clasp.

The invention will now be explained with the aid of the following description given by way of example and with the aid of the drawing which illustrates it and in which
FIG. 1 is a perspective view from above of the clasp according to the invention,
FIG. 2 is a perspective of the clasp of FIG. 1, but seen from below and according to a first embodiment,
FIG. 3 is a section along line III - III in FIGS. 1 and 2,
FIG. 4 is a section along line 111 - III of FIG. 1 showing a second embodiment,
FIG. 5 is a section along line III - III of FIG. 1 showing a third embodiment,
- Figure 6 is a section on Figure VI - VI of Figure 5.

FIG. 7 is a perspective view from above of the clasp, according to the invention and according to a modified embodiment, and
- Figure 8 is a perspective of the clasp of Figure 7, but viewed from below.

Figures 1 and 2 show respectively seen from above and from below a clasp 1 bringing together first 2 and second 3 strands of a flexible bracelet. The strands, generally made of animal skin, could be made of synthetic materials. This clasp, of the wallet type, comprises first 4 and second 5 blades hinged together by one of their ends by means, for example, of a driven pin 20. The blades 4 and 5 comprise means for being fixed one on the other in the closed position. These means can be very diverse. Here we have chosen to raise a notch 6 in the blade 4, this notch being shaped to receive the bar 12 fixed to the end of the blade 5.

Figures 1 and 2 also show that the free end of the first blade 4 is provided with a bar 7 around which the first strand 2 is wound at articulation. It can also be seen that the free end of the second blade 5 is provided with a loop 8 for the articulated fixing of the second strand 3 on said second blade, this second strand being equipped with a plurality of perforations 9.

In general and according to the invention, the loop 8 has the shape of a U formed by two branches 10 and 11 connected at their first free ends by a bar 12 serving for articulated fixing of the loop 8 to the second blade 5 of the clasp. The two branches 10 and 11 are connected at their second ends by a first bridge 13, visible in the closed position of the clasp. The width of the bridge 13, width taken in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet, is dimensioned such that the bridge 13 does not cover the bar 12 of the loop 8, which basically distinguishes this construction from that described in the document GB- A-2158145 cited above. Finally the second strand 3 is attached to the clasp, more precisely to the loop 8 which is part of its composition, by a stud 14 capable of penetrating one of the perforations 9 of the second strand 3, this stud being fixed under deck 13.

Therefore, because of the difference observed between the bridge 13 and the bar 12, the loop 8 adapts to the strand 3 whatever the thickness of this strand, since on the one hand the bridge 13 is applied permanently on the strand, while on the other hand the bar 12 serves to support the underside of this strand. Thus the overall thickness of the clasp varies according to the thickness of the leather, the most prominent part being the upper face of the bridge 13.

This result, moreover, could be obtained in the same way if the stud 14 was replaced by a barb articulated on the bar 12, this barb passing through one of the perforations 9 of the strand 3. However, the present invention relates to a clasp with loop where the pin is not desired for aesthetic reasons above all.

The stud 14 can be produced in different ways, some of which are reviewed in FIGS. 3 and 6.

Figure 3 shows that the stud 14 is a threaded tube 15 which passes through one of the perforations 9 of the strand 3. This tube can be welded under the bridge 13 of the loop. Once the strand has been put in place to obtain the correct length of the bracelet, a large-head screw 16 is placed in the tube. The length of the tube can be chosen equal to the thickness of the thinnest strand. In this way there will always be tightening of the strand under the loop.

FIG. 4 shows that the stud 14 is provided with a spherical bead 17 for retaining the strand under the bridge 13 of the loop. We will arrange for the diameter of the bead to be larger than the diameter of the perforation 9 of the strand 3.

Figures 5 and 6 show that the stud 14 is provided with a spout 18 forming a hook. We will make sure that the beak is turned towards the end of the strand 3.

Once the clasp blades 4 and 5 are hooked in the closed position, the surplus leather from strand 3 can be threaded through a loop 19 sewn onto the first strand 2. If necessary, it is possible to equip strand 2 with a second mobile passerby.

Figures 7 and 8 show a modification of the loop 8 with respect to the construction of Figures 1 and 2. Here, the first branches 10 and 11 are each extended on the side of their first free end by a second branch referenced respectively 23 and 22, these second branches being connected by a second bridge 21 forming a pass to receive the second strand 3 of the bracelet. The double loop thus produced always includes the stud 14 penetrating one of the perforations 9 of the strand 3 and it can be seen that neither the first 13 nor the second bridge 21 covers the bar 12 as is the characteristic of the present invention.
