Abstract

The powder compact has two flat pieces that are joined by a hinge and are in contact with each other when the compact is closed. Opposite the hinge they have flanges (17,18) which, in the closed position, cover the neighbouring edge of the other part of the compact. The flanges are staggered and form the fastener of the compact. The front edge (21,22) of the flanges have parts jutting out (23,27) that clip onto part of the wall (25,29) of recesses (24,28) formed in the opposite edge. They clip together due to their mutual resilience when the two pieces are compressed.
