Abstract

The control for mounting on the dashboard of a car includes a sliding toothed rack (3) with a button (4) attached to it projecting through a slot in the front panel (2). Between this toothed rack, and a fixed rack (8) there are two toothed wheels (9) of which the spindles are attached to a bar. This bar has a peg (12) which holds the eyelet at the end of the inner core of a coaxial cable. The outer sleeve is fastened at the base of the control. The cable may be used to control the heater. The rack and pinion mechanism provides a reduction in the operating force needed to move the cable since the sliding button moves a greater distance than the cable itself.
