Abstract

The handrail has a riser (10) to which is fixed in a removable anchoring rod (18) by a muff (11) which is fixed to the riser and extends on one side of the riser more than on the other. Another parallel muff (17) receives the spacing bar (23) that can be adjusted in length to suit the distance to the wall face (32). The anchoring rod (18) which has anchoring finger (19) can be replaced by an anchoring rod that has a grip joint at its end either alone to fix horizontally or with an elbow piece which allows a vertical fixing with the grip joint.

Description

 The present invention relates generally to railings of the type of those commonly used by roofers to ensure their protection during the production or repair of the roof of any construction.

 As we know, and unlike scaffolding consoles, guardrails do not have to bear loads.

 They have the simple aim of stopping in their fall the personnel or the objects accidentally coming to slip on the cover concerned.

 They essentially consist for this purpose of an amount allowing, from one such amount to another, the establishment of a railing, a net, and a plinth.

 To this amount there is associated a hanging bar for its securing to the construction concerned.

 Usually, to date, this hanging bar is permanently installed on such an amount, being rigidly permanently fixed thereto.

I1 can be for example a hooking bar equipped with a finger which, by simple engagement in the opening which has for this purpose a member, commonly known as a safety hook, fixed in advance to the frame of the construction concerned, allows, by gravity, securing to such a safety hook, as described, but for a scaffolding console, in the French patent filed on August 7, 1973 under
No 73 28 767 and published under No 2.245.213.

 Although such an arrangement is perfectly satisfactory for the installation of a railing along the current part of a construction, it may be ill-suited for other installations, and in particular on the roof edge, on the gables of such a construction.

 The present invention generally relates to a provision advantageously making it possible to diversify possibilities for installing the railing concerned.

 More specifically, the present invention firstly relates to a guardrail for roofers, of the kind comprising an amount with which there is associated a hanging bar for securing it to a construction, this guardrail being characterized in that, for such a hanging bar, its upright is fitted transversely, between its ends, with a sleeve suitable for fitting such a hanging bar in a removable manner.

 The attachment bar used can be an attachment bar with an attachment finger, as described in the French patent mentioned above.

 However, according to the invention, it can also advantageously be a hanging bar equipped with a clamp.

 Thanks to such a clamp, the railing according to the invention can indifferently be installed in the current part of the construction concerned, or on the roof edge thereof, at the end of a rafter, of a farmhouse or a breakdown.

 The present invention also relates to the corresponding clamping hook bar.

 This hanging bar can be directly attached to the amount of the railing according to the invention, in the sleeve which is fitted for this purpose this amount.

 But, according to the invention, there is also associated with it a nesting bar by means of which it can also be attached to this upright, and this nesting bar comprises two wings making an angle between them, in practice a angle of 900, namely a wing by which it is adapted to be attached to said amount, in the sleeve provided for this purpose thereon, and a wing paraquelle it is adapted to receive the hanging bar.

 The present invention also relates to such an interlocking bar, which allows in particular the clamp of the fastening bar according to the invention to cover above or below the rafter, the farmhouse, or the purlin with which it is engaged, not just being implanted at the end of it.

 As a result, the railing according to the invention can advantageously be installed all along the gable of a construction, by authorizing, in addition to the protection at the roof edge, the finishing of such a roof edge since it does not therefore interfere with the operations necessary for its finishing, and that, likewise, when it is installed along the current part of such a construction, it does not hinder, for example, the operations necessary for the laying of a gutter, lcrsqu 'it caps over or below a rafter, a farmhouse, or a purlin.

 According to an additional characteristic of the invention, the sleeve with which the upright of a railing is fitted for fitting a hanging bar extends more than one side of this upright than the other.

 I1 follows that, as required, the railing according to the invention can advantageously be installed either slightly away from the construction concerned, or as close to it.

 As illustrated by these figures, the railing according to the invention implements an upright 10, Figure 1, on which can be removably attached a fastening bar specific to its stowage to a construction.

 This upright 10 is equipped transversely for this purpose, between its ends, with a sleeve 11, which is suitable for the installation of such a hanging bar, and which, in the illustrated embodiment, is fixed permanently at the amount 10.

 This sleeve 11, which is added laterally with respect to the upright 10, for example by welding, and which extends substantially perpendicular to this upright 10, has, transversely, in the embodiment shown, a square section.

 I1 is attached by one of its faces to the upright 10, projecting far more on one side thereof than on the other.

 From place to place, it has transversely holes 12, suitably staggered, for fitting a pin suitable for retaining the associated fastening bar, as will appear below.

 In the embodiment shown, it has projecting, on its upper face, a bracket 13 suitable for the establishment of a plinth.

 Likewise, the upright 10 has, at its upper end, or head, on the one hand a jumper 15, suitable for the installation of a pad, and on the other hand a hook 16, suitable for the installation a protective net.

 At its lower end, or foot, the upright 10 is also equipped with a sleeve 17 suitable for the establishment of a spreader bar.

 This sleeve 17 has a constitution similar to that of the sleeve 11, and, parallel to the latter, it is attached by its upper face to the upright 10, for example by welding.

 Like the sleeve 11, it has holes 12, suitably staggered transversely, for fitting a pin suitable for retaining the associated spreader bar, as will appear below.

The hanging bar capable of being implemented with such a guardrail can, for example, FIG. 2, be a hanging bar 18 provided at its end with a hanging finger 19 of the type described in the French patent
No 73 28767 mentioned above.

 This hooking bar 18 is in practice a section of tube whose cross section is complementary to that of the sleeve 11, for engagement therein, this cross section preferably having, and as shown, a constriction towards the interior between each of its angles, to facilitate such engagement.

 From place to place, the hanging bar 18 has holes 20, for fitting to a pin.

 It can thus be attached removably in the sleeve 11, as illustrated in FIG. 5.

 After adjusting its position to the desired length, a pin 22 secures it to the sleeve 11, FIG. 5, and, likewise, in the sleeve 17 is attached, in a removable manner and adjustable in position, using a pin 22, a spacer bar 23 with a T-shaped end for example.

 The railing 25 thus formed is ready to be stowed on the construction 26 to be treated, the latter being equipped for this purpose, from place to place, of safety members 27, commonly known as safety hooks, having a clean hole to the free engagement of the fastening finger 19, as described in French patent No 73 28767 mentioned above.

 In the illustrated embodiment, such a safety hook 27 is attached to the crossbowman 28 of one of the trusses 30 that comprises the frame of this construction, but it is more commonly reported on the rafters usually fixed to the purlins carried by such farms.

 Anyway, the railing 25 is suspended by gravity from the safety hook 27.

 Jointly, the spacer bar 23 which it comprises is supported, by its T-shaped end, on the corresponding wall 32 of the construction concerned.

 According to the invention, the railing 25 can also if desired, be equipped, for its securing to such a construction, and as a replacement for the hooking bar with hooking finger 19 described above, of a bar attachment to clamp 33 of the type shown in isolation in FIG. 3. This attachment bar to clamp 33 comprises a running part with holes 20 similar to that of the attachment bar 18 above, but, at its end, instead of being fitted with a finger 19, it is fitted with a clamp 34.

 This clamp 34 is formed by a U-shaped plate 35, which is attached transversely at the end of the bar 33, for example by welding, and the wings of which bear, facing one another, one a fixed jaw 36 provided axially projecting, in the direction of the other, with a tip 37, the other with a movable jaw 38 which is carried by a life 39 engaged in screwing, under the control of fingers 40, in a nut 41 secured to a socket 42 carried by the plate 35.

 Such a clamping bar 33 is, by itself, adapted to be directly attached to an upright 10, by engagement in the sleeve 11 thereof and placement of a pin 22, like the hanging bar 18 previous.

 The railing 25 thus equipped can therefore be stowed at the end of the entry 44 of a truss 30, or at the end of any rafter carried by it.

 I1 indeed suffices to clamp between the jaws 36 and 38 of the clamp 34 of the attachment bar 33 the beam or the chevron concerned.

 As a variant, with such a clamping bar 33 there is associated a socket bar 45, FIG. 4, by means of which it can be attached to the upright 10.

 According to the invention, such a lift bar 45 comprises two wings 46, 47 forming an angle between them, namely a wing 46 by which it is adapted to be attached to the upright 10, and a wing 47 by which it is suitable for receiving a clamping bar 33.

 In the embodiment shown, the wings 46, 47, which are for example solidariseas to each other by welding, form an angle of 900 between them.

 Anyway, they form complementary male and female clamps: the wing 46 has a cross section similar to that of the hanging bars 18 and 33, and, provided like these with holes 20 suitably staggered, it can be engaged in the sleeve 11 of an upright 10 and is subjected thereto by means of a pin 22; jointly, the wing 47 forms a sleeve in which a clamping bar 33 can be engaged, this sleeve having transversely holes 20, suitably staggered, for fitting a pin 22 and thus subjecting it to such a hanging bar 33.

 Thanks to such an interlocking bar 45, the body rail 25 concerned can for example, FIG. 7, be stowed from below to the entrance 44 of a truss 30, which facilitates for example the installation of a gutter, or be secured to the rafter or to the edge of the building concerned, either from above, figure 8, or from below, figure 9, which, in all cases, authorizes the installation of such a guardrail 25 on the gables of this construction.

 I1 will therefore be appreciated that, the hanging bar being interchangeable, the railing according to the invention can thus be adapted to many particular installation conditions, by an appropriate choice of such a hanging bar, and thereby acquires an almost universal character.

 In addition, according to the end of the sleeve 11 of its upright 10 by which the chosen attachment bar is introduced, it can be installed either slightly away from the construction concerned, if, as shown, this end is that by which said sleeve 11 protrudes the most from said upright 10, that is to say as close as possible to said construction, if this end is on the contrary that by which said sleeve 11 projects least from said upright 10.

Claims (15)

 1) Guardrail for roofer, of the type comprising an upright with which there is associated a hanging bar for securing it to a construction, characterized in that, for such a hanging bar (18, 33, 46), its upright (10) is fitted transversely, between its ends, with a sleeve (11) suitable for fitting such a hanging bar in a removable manner.  2) Guardrail according to claim 1, characterized in that said sleeve (11) projects more on one side of the upright than the other.  3) Guardrail according to any one of claims 1, 2, characterized in that said sleeve (11) extends substantially perpendicular to the upright.  4) Guardrail according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that said sleeve (11) is permanently fixed to the upright.  5) Guardrail according to any one of claims 1 to 4 and the amount of which (10) is fitted transversely with a sleeve (17) suitable for the installation of a spreader bar (23) so adjustable, characterized in that the two sleeves (11) and (17) with which the upright is thus equipped are parallel.  6) Guardrail according to any one of claims 1 to 5 characterized in that the attachment bar (33) is equipped with a clamp (34)  7) Guardrail according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the hooking bar (18) is equipped with a hooking finger (19).  8) Guardrail according to any one of claims 6, 7 characterized in that the attachment bar (18) is adapted to between directly attached to the upright (10).  9) Guardrail according to any one of Claims 6, 7, characterized in that, to the hanging bar (33), there is associated a nesting bar (45) by means of which it can be reported on the amount.  10) Guardrail according to claim 9, characterized in that said interlocking bar (45) comprises two wings (46, 47) forming an angle between them, namely a wing (46) by which it is adapted to be attached to the upright (10), and a wing (47) by which it is adapted to receive the hanging bar (33).  11) Guardrail according to claim 10, characterized in that the two wings (46,47) of the interlocking bar (45) form complementary male and female parts.  12) Guardrail according to any one of claims 10, 11, characterized in that the wing (47) of the roll-up bar (45) by which the latter is adapted to receive the hooking bar forms a sleeve.  13) Guardrail according to any one of claims 10 to 12, characterized in that the two wings (46,47) of the nesting bar form an angle of 90C between them.  14) Hanging bar with clamp (33) for railing according to any one of claims 1 to 13.  15) Nesting bar (45) suitable for the installation of a hanging bar (33) on a railing according to any one of claims 1 to 13.
