The present invention relates to a device for fixing plates or panels of acrylic resin intended for the production of railings.
Currently, in the building, buildings are carried out with balconies provided with railings made of plates or panels in acrylic resin, more particularly in polymethyl-methacrylate marketed under different brands. This material has great qualities and also allows decorative and aesthetic effects
Unfortunately, this material has a relatively high coefficient of expansion and there must be an expansion gap of five millimeters per meter depending on the climate or exposure. The plates or panels were first placed in a rebate with a glazing bead, and locked on their entire periphery, taking into account the imperatives of expansion
This provision was abandoned with the use of aluminum profiles. Currently, the plates are fixed by means of clips or "U" profiles, as shown in Figures 1 and 2 respectively. These two means constitute the only attachments of the plates or panels on the framework, which considerably hinders the aesthetic development that the guardrails could have. Indeed, the profiled "U" beams must always be fixed on the posts, there is no is not possible to move away from forms that have become traditional
The use of pliers does not solve the problem since they must be fixed securely on the posts or on the top and bottom rails and more often on the assembly. These systems therefore do not allow designers to create new shapes ; they can only vary on the shade of the panels and the size of the handrails
An apparently economical solution and allowing original creations, would consist in placing on the outside face of the framework a pierced panel, crossed by screws or bolts, but then new disadvantages appear
- The panel being clamped, the significant expansion (1/10 th of a millimeter per meter and per OC) could not be carried out in good conditions and its planimetry would be altered. Conversely in case of extreme contraction, the tensions internals may cause breakage at the slightest shock
The clamping would also prevent elastic deformation on impact and the panel would easily break
Simplistic solutions have been envisaged to solve these problems, consisting in providing a relatively loose fastening and an increased thickness of the panel to withstand impacts, which increases the cost price by 50 to 80%. The most commonly adapted solution consists to execute a railing of very simple construction, for example a railing, and to consider the acrylic resin panel as a simple exterior decoration, which makes it possible to reduce the thickness and the cost thereof, although the assembly of panels plus bars remains always of a very high cost price, while leaving the problem of expansion and its drawbacks without solution
The present invention overcomes these drawbacks. It relates to a device for fastening acrylic resin panels consisting of an elastic fixing produced by means of a screw enclosed in a neoprene collar, held outside by a metal washer, the screw assembly and flange being inserted into an orifice provided in the panel to be fixed, and held on the top rail by means of a bolt, the orifice provided in the panel having a diameter sufficient to allow the expansion of said panel
The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows and on examining FIGS. 3 and 4 showing one of its achievements from the front and in section
In these figures, we see in 1, the acrylic resin panel fixed to the rails 2 and 3 of a balcony
The fasteners are produced by means of a screw 4, enclosed in a collar 5, made of neoprene, produced in two parts -5a and 5b, or any other similar material; the flange 5 is held in the text - laughing by means of a metal washer 6, or made of any other material, disposed under the head of the screw 4. This washer 6, has a diameter substantially double the support width on the arm 2 (3) the screw 4 is fixed on the arm 2 (3) by means of an indessible nut 7
It should be noted that the collar 5 on the outside has a diameter very slightly greater than the washer 6; inside, the flange 5 is interposed between the acrylic resin panel 1 and the stringer 2 (3), this so that no metal part comes into contact with said panel 1 Furthermore, Orifice 8 8 provided in panel 1 for the passage of the fastener to a diameter greater than this, in order to allow the material to expand, and its deformation to impact without the panel being able to come into contact with the screw 4. Expansion and deformation can be done in vertical or horizontal direction
The spacing of the holes provided in the panel is slightly off-center with respect to the axes of the holes provided in the top 2 and bottom 3 beams
Furthermore, the orifices 8 provided in the panel 1 can be.
Le serrage des boulons doit être suffisant pour assurer le blocage du panneau sur la lisse tout en laissant la dilatation et d'éventuelles déformations s'effectuer .be oblong; in this case, the upper orifice has its longest diameter in the vertical direction, and the lower orifice has its large diameter perpendicularly, that is to say in the horizontal direction
The tightening of the bolts must be sufficient to ensure the blocking of the panel on the boom while allowing expansion and possible deformations to take place.
The applicant has carried out tests on panels eight millimeters long by 500 millimeters wide, in accordance with the standard
AFNOR. EF P01.013. In these tests, the shock is caused by the fall of a bag of heavy tarpaulin filled with hardened white glass beads of four millimeters in diameter, weighing 40 kg, released in pendulum motion without initial speed from a height of 1 , 75m, in relation to the geometric center of the panel. None of these tests resulted in panel failure
The fixing according to the invention allows the use of acrylic resin in a strip for the production of railings, monoblocks, it also makes it possible to remove the bottom rail, with direct fixing of the panel on the posts, with the possibility of descending under the face
