Abstract

The electric toaster can be operated both automatically and manually. The handle can also be used to raise the slices of bread being toasted so that it can be picked out by hand. The toaster has two resistance-heating elements spaced opposite each other. The bread is supported on bars perpendicular to the heating element. The support bars can be manually adjusted by a lever. The support (5) for the bread consists of two rod-shaped elements (6,7). The lower element is linked to the positioning and automatic throw-out mechanisms. The upper element runs along guide rods. It is supported by the gravity of the lower element.

Description

 The invention relates to an electric toaster of the automatic triggering type carrying the bread slices once they have been toasted for the preset time.

 The main object of the invention is to produce an automatic toaster also comprising a lever device with manual control intended to determine an additional movement upwards of the support carrying the bread slices to allow easier to take and remove those once grilled.

To this end, the invention provides a toaster comprising, in its body or carcass, electric heating resistances spaced in parallel, a horizontal support carrying the slices of toast, guided and able to move vertically between the electric resistances, manual control means making it possible to move the support and to engage it in the lowered position and means making it possible to automatically trigger this support and to move it upwards under the action of a spring, said toaster being characterized by that the support carrying the bread slices is formed by two elements arranged one on the other, the lower element being fixed to the engagement and triggering means and the upper element being guided on vertical columns and resting by gravity on the lower element, and in that on a cheek of the body or carcass is mounted on pivot a lever provided with a rod intended to act on the upper element of the support to move it up independently of the lower element, the lever being urged towards the rest position by a return spring

 In the drawings, there is indicated by 1 the external carcass provided with two cheeks 2 between which two electric resistances, not shown, have been fixed to support plates. To these are associated grid elements 5 designed to define the housing compartment for the slices of toast. Between the resistors is a longitudinal support S intended to support the slices of bread. According to the invention, this support S is formed of two elements 6, 7, the lower element 6 as a carrier and the upper element 7 resting thereon by gravity. The upper element 7 is in turn provided with lateral fins 7 'by which it presses on the other element.

The lower element 6 of the support carrying the slices of bread is fixed to a device indicated by the general reference 8, manually controlled by the intermediary of a lever 9 and intended to move the element 6 and with it the upper element 7 and to engage it in the lowered position. The device 8 is in itself known and therefore does not deserve any particular attention g with this device are associated means of automatic triggering of the support, indicated by the general reference 10 and in themselves known.

The element 6, when it is automatically triggered by the trigger means 10, moves from bottom to top between the grids 9 under the action of a spring 11 acting in this direction and, consequently, this element also moves towards the top the second element 7 which rests on it.

The pivot 14 is in turn urged by a torsion spring 17 acting in the desired direction to maintain the pivot in its rotational position so that the lever rod 16 is moved down and away from the fin 13 of the pad 12.

 Essentially, the bread slices are placed and supported on the surface 7, 7t provided with fins and supported, as said above, by the lower element 6.

Therefore, both when engaging in the lowered position and during triggering, the two elements 6, 7 ′ move together like an element seal.

 The upper element 7 can however also move separately and independently of the lower element.

It suffices in fact to rotate the pivot 14 by manually acting on the corresponding lever or lever, until the lever rod 16 acts from bottom to top on the tail 13 of the pad pad 12 so as to displace the latter. here upwards, so also element 7 and with it the slices of bread. It is thus possible to remove the toasted and therefore very hot bread slices without the risk of burning your hands, especially when the slices are small. After each operation, the spring 17 rotates the pivot 14 in the opposite direction to the previous direction until the lever rod 16 is brought to the initial position while the element 7 moves downward to press on the element 6.

Claims (3)

1.- Improved electric toaster comprising an external body or carcass provided with two opposite cheeks and inside which there are two electric heating resistances spaced in parallel, a horizontal support carrying the bread slices, guided and able to move vertically between the electrical resistances, manual control means making it possible to move the support and to engage it in the lowered position and means making it possible to automatically trigger this support and to move it upwards at the end. for a preset time, under the action of a spring, said toaster being characterized in that the support consists of two rod-shaped elements, comprising a first lower element fixed to the automatic triggering and triggering means and a second upper element guided on vertical columns and supported by gravity on the first element, and in that on a cheek of the body or carcass is mounted a rotary pivot provided with a lever rod intended to act on the second element of the support carrying the slices of bread to move it up independently of the first element, the rotary pivot carrying a lever or lever grip means for manual operation and being urged towards the rest position by a return spring.  2.- Toaster according to claim 1, characterized in that the second support element is fixed to an end plate with a guide shoe on two vertical columns and provided with an angled fin which acts from the bottom up the lever rod of the operating pivot. 3.- Toaster according to. claim 1, characterized in that the support is formed by two superimposed elements which can be moved at the same time as the automatic engagement and tripping means, one of the elements being moved independently of the other by lever means with manual control mounted on a cheek of the body of the apparatus, on the side opposite to the group of means of engagement and release.
