Abstract

The bandsaw is carried on a wheel (5) which revolves around a horizontal axis. The axis is supported on a sleeve (2) which rides on a vertical post (1). The sleeve may be raised or lowered to control the blade tension. The sleeve is fitted with a number of horizontal jackscrews (10) parallel to the blade wheel axis which enable the wheel to be tilted from the vertical position. The vertical angle of the wheel may also be adjusted by movement of the wheel on its axis.

Description

Ce devers est réalisé en inclinant llaxe de ltarbre supportant la poulie ; avec un peu d'habitude, les utilisateurs arrivent rapidement à trouver l'angle convenable ;
The present invention relates to sawing machines using a toothed band in the form of a belt rotating between two flywheels
This kind of machine is very well known, however the users of these know the # s difficulties caused by the drive and the good behavior of the steel band constituting the saw itself.
Indeed, this ribbon is not geometrically perfect, the junction by brazing of the two ends creates a disturbance in the harmony of the movement, but a much more important cause is that which is caused by an unequal expansion of the lateral sides of the ribbon which, s '' it was perfectly circular, would then take the form of a trunk of ctfne
Various stresses on the tape contribute to these deformations: effort and heating of the side of the saw and friction of the opposite side against the workpiece preventing it from moving back when the piece of wood to be cut comes into contact with the tape
These deformations have the common result of a tendency to slide the saw outside the pulley, which is, of course, to be avoided, essentially given the danger that this represents
A solution has been found for a long time; it consists in giving the upper free flywheel a slight slope in the opposite direction to the direction of the sliding of the ribbon on the surface of the flywheel
This slope is achieved by tilting the axis of the shaft supporting the pulley; with a little habit, users quickly find the right angle;
The inclination of the axis is generally obtained by the inclination of the bearing in which the hub of the flywheel rotates.
The invention which is the subject of this presentation concerns a possible rotation of the stem itself, supporting the steering wheel shaft.
In a nonlimiting embodiment, cited by way of example only
Figure 1 shows the upper pulley of the machine with its stem
Figure 2 shows the same side crumb view
FIG. 3 schematically shows how the inclination of the pulley can be effected by oscillation of the bearing of the axis of the pulley in the direction of one or the other of the arrows
Figure 4 shows schematically the profile of the inclined pulley either on one side or the other
Figure 5 shows the possibility of obtaining the same result by tilting the sliding beam secured to the stem
In FIG. 1, the number 1 represents the column along which slides a thread 2 supporting the bracket 3 on which is fixed laterally the axle 4 of the steering wheel 5 on which the upper part of the band saw 6 is wound up.
7 is a fixed beam secured to column 1. It supports the saw guide (not shown) and also the handwheel 8 used to adjust the saw tension
In FIG. 2, there is a rear profile view of the column 1, the barrel 2, the axis 4 of the pulley 5 on which the saw 6 is wound.
e
FIG. 3 schematically shows the steering wheel 5, the axis 4 of which journals in a bearing 9
In a known and commonly used assembly, this bearing, 9, is installed in a cavity of the bracket 3 and can oscillate in a vertical plane, either upwards or downwards, in the direction of the arrows f 1 and f 2
The result is shown in Figure 4 or the steering wheel 5 can take either the right or left positions shown in dotted lines In another embodiment according to ltinventåon, it is possible to obtain the same result by tilting the stem 3 itself by acting on the barrel 2 with which it is integral
To this end, the internal bore of the thread 2 is substantially larger than the diameter of the column 1. The diameters are taken up by a set of threaded studs such as 10, the operation of which allows the desired tilt of the steering wheel 5 following for example the direction of the arrow f 3
This assembly can however slide along the column 1 under the action of the tension adjustment wheel 8
This arrangement simplifies the machining of the housing of the steering wheel axle. It frees up space at this location and allows you to place better sized bearings
