Abstract

The equipment signals the position of a person in distress in the water or on dry land, e.g. a swimmer, sailor, diver or skier. A balloon is instantly filled with gas lighter than air and released into the air. It is held by a mooring wire to the person concerned at a height where it is visible at some distance and in all weather conditions. The balloon can be stowed folded flat, being equipped with a self-sealing inflation valve and a gas bottle (6). A flexible pipe (10) connects the bottle to the valve of the balloon (5), and a line wound round a bobbin (12) is attached between the latter and the balloon, all being accommodated inside a haversack (1).
