Abstract

Device facilitating the location of a person who has fallen overboard. The invention relates to a device for helping to locate a person who has fallen overboard in order to rescue him quickly. This device is in the form of a container fixed to the rear of a boat. This container contains a balloon of a fluorescent colour which is previously inflated with a gas having a density less than air (helium), a floating counterweight and a nylon cord connecting the balloon to the counterweight. In the case of someone falling overboard, this container will be opened manually or automatically and will release its contents. The balloon will rise a few metres above the water while remaining held because of the counterweight and the nylon cord. The whole of this device will then allow the point where the person fell overboard to be located very exactly even in rough seas, remaining visible at several hundreds of metres. This device is in particular intended to supplement boat safety equipment.
