Abstract

The high ratio speed reduction epicyclic gear train is driven from a motor, with the sun wheel mounted on the motor shaft. The sun wheel meshes with two or three planet pinions which in turn mesh with a fixed internally tooted ring. To reduce the backlash of the gear train to a minimum the internally toothed ring is elastically deformed under the radial loads of the planet pinions. The pinions run on pre-loaded needle bearings on spindles which can slide in radial slots in the planet cage.
