Abstract
Process and plant for drying compressed air incorporate feeding air to the top of an exchange battery submerged in a liq. bath of which the lower part is cooled, recovering this air in the cold state in the base of the battery, sepg. the particles of water from the cold air, feeding cold dry air into middle part of battery so as to make it circulate upwards and recovering it at the top of the battery after it has recovered the heat given up by the wet air which enters at ambient temp. Process avoids inconveniences of existing processes in which air has to be heated at the outlet of the separator so that a large amt. of energy is consumed in the successive operations of cooling and reheating and which necessitate a costly appts. taking up a lot of space. Appts. is compact, anddispenses with the need for any other means of reheating the air before it is distributed in the installation in which it is used.
