Abstract
The system lays a pipeline comprising lengts of insulated pipe, partic. for a district heating system. Each length comprises metal inner and outer pipes with an insulating layer between, the inner and outer pipes sliding in relation to each other. The inner pipe is stretched and secured in position in relation to the outer one when in the stretched condition. Pref. the insulating layer is foamed plastic, more pref. polyurethane being used. The inner pipe is stretched beyond its dimension in the pre-stressed state, and an annular flange is welded onto its end protruding beyond the outer one. The stretching action is then released, whereupon the flange bears via an electrically and thermally insulating intermediate layer with a self-centring action against the end of the outer pipe.
