L'invention concerne l'industrie pharmaceutique. Elle concerne une substance présentant une activité inductrice d'interféron, d'un poids moléculaire d'environ 100 000 à 3000000, contenant comme constituants principaux des amino-acides, des sucres et de l'acide phosphorique, présentant une activité effective envers divers virus, ladite substance étant produite par extraction du tissu d'une plante appartenant au genre Perilla de la famille Labiatae, ou d'une de ses variantes, l'extraction étant effectuée de préférence avec de l'eau et la récupération dans l'extrait étant effectuée par ultracentrifugation. Application comme médicament pour la prévention et le traitement de diverses maladies virales.
