Abstract

The sectional framework utilises timber posts and rails connected by pinned or screwed laminar L-shaped metal straps in planes common to the conjunctive members. The system may be used to build furniture etc. The straps are flush in co-planar external member faces, and pins may have conical or reduced tips to reduce play in strap holes. The straps may have continuous square returns to internal edges to reduce pin loads, and may further be strengthened by diagonal braces. Alternatively, the strap may be in round section bar subtending an obtuse angle with the legs entering member ends bores, and a further alternative uses the primary laminar strap with integral pins.
