Abstract

The connection for power supply cables includes upper and lower parts which are bolted together. The lower part has an upwardly facing annular channel concentric with the central hole. An extended portion of the base forms a cylinder standing up around the hole. The upper part of the connector has a similar central hole and has four tabs extending down to fit over the lower part when the two halves are put together. The spaces between the tabs in the upper part, and the annular channel in the lower part define the holes in which conductors are gripped, the grip being maintained by a central bolt. Two metal rings lie in the upper and lower parts of the connector, and penetrate the cable insulation and connect the cables together. The body of the connector is made of glass fibre reinforced plastic.
