Abstract
An electrical connector is used for making tap connections to line uninsulated electrical conductors such as over-head power lines. It includes a hooked clamping arrangement (2, 12) with a tap-wire connection incorporated into the conductive body (1) of the clamp. The end of the tap-wire (16) is sealed against the ingress of moisture between the cone and sheath of the tap wire (16). To connect the tap wire to the body a hollow stud (22) and a radially resilient collar are passed over the wire. The wire is then inserted into a blind hole in the body and the stud (22) screwed into the hole to cause the collar to be radially compressed into engagement with the core (15) of the wire.
