Abstract

Procédé pour la préparation de 1,5-diméthylbicyclo (3,2,1)-octanol-8 On fait réagir du 1,5-diméthyl-1,5-cyclo-octadiène, éventuellement en présence d'un catalyseur acide, avec un acide carboxylique de formule RCOOH, où R représente de l'hydrogène ou un groupe d'hydrocarbure substitué ou non, de façon à former un ester de 1,5-diméthylbicyclo(3,2,1)-octanol-8 et on hydrolyse ou on alcoolyse l'ester ainsi formé de manière à obtenir du 1,5-diméthylbicyclo(3,2,1)-octanol-8. Certains esters de cet alcool sont odoriférants.
