Abstract

Un procedimiento para la preparación de 1,5- dimetilbiciclo [3.2.1.]octanol-8, caracterizado porque se hace reaccionar 1,5-dimetil-1,5-ciclo- octadieno, opcionalmente en presencia de un catalizador ácido, con un ácido carboxílico de fórmula RCOOH, donde R representa hidrógeno o un grupo hidrocarbonado substituido o no substituido, para formar un éster de 1,5- dimetilbiciclo[3.2.1]octanol-8, y se hidroliza o alcoholiza el éster así formado, para obtener 1,5- dimetilbiciclo[3.2.1]octanol-8.
