Abstract

L'invention concerne la transformation du trihydrate d'alumine en alpha -alumine. Une précalcination (dans un courant de gaz chauds) enlève H2 O libre et chimiquement liée, puis l'alumine précalcinée est mélangée au fuel-oil et le mélange est mis en suspension dans le gaz contenant O2 introduit dans la zone de combustion de la chambre de réaction (recristallisation exothermique); l'alumine est ensuite entraînée par le gaz, puis séparée de celui-ci et refroidie rapidement. Application de cette alumine: production d'aluminium par électrolyse.
