Abstract

Procédé de préparation d'acides benzène-carboxyliques par oxydation de composés benzéniques substitués. On oxyde un composé aromatique, tel que le p-xylène, l'acide p-toluique et le p-toluate de méthyle, au moyen d'un gaz contenant de l'oxygène moléculaire, en phase liquide, pratiquement en l'absence d'un acide carboxylique aliphatique inférieur, en utilisant un catalyseur constitué d'un composé du cobalt soluble dans le système réactionnel, d'un composé du manganèse soluble dans le système réactionnel, d'un composé du brome soluble dans le système réactionnel et, éventuellement, d'un composé de métal alcalin soluble dans le système réactionnel. On peut ainsi préparer, à partir du p-xylène et/ou du p-toluate de méthyle, l'acide téréphtalique, matière première importante pour la préparation de polyesters.
