Abstract

L'invention concerne la fabrication des fibres optiques. On forme des particules de verre en soumettant du gaz de matériau brut de verre à une hydrolyse à la flamme, on fait déposer lesdites particules sur un élément de départ de manière que l'épaisseur des particules croisse dans le sens axial, on fritte le corps ainsi forme de manière à former un cylindre, on insère le cylindre dans un tube en quartz de maniere à former un ensemble, on chauffe l'ensem le pour fondre entre eux le cylindre et le tube et on tire l'ensemble en une fibre mince. Le cylindre 13 présente un indice de réfraction supérieur à celui d'une enveloppe intermédiaire, et le tube de verre formant une chemise 14 entoure cette enveloppe. Les fibres de verre selon l'invention sont réalisées à un coût moindre que dans la technique antérieure.
