Abstract

The vehicle clutch plate assembly has a disc with a set of springs fitted in openings around it, these springs also projecting through openings through two thinner plates (15, 16) forming a housing around it. One of the thinner plates (15) is flanged, with the flange (25) interlocking with the other plate (16). The flanged plate also has a ring (13) larger diameter attached to it, with friction pads secured to its periphery. The ring (13) is secured to the flanged plate (15) so that they are in close contact, while the flanged part (25) project through slots (30, 33) in the ring and are then attached to the other plate (16) so as to form spacers. Each flange (25) fits in a groove (28) on the edge of the plate (16) spaced from it and has a small arm (29A) punched from it which is bent at right angles to lock it in the groove.
