Abstract

The vehicle clutch plate is assembly has a disc (12) mounted on a hub and carrying a set of springs (17) around it. These springs are fitted in openings around the disc and also project through further openings in two plates (13, 15) forming a housing around it. The larger diameter plate (13) carries peripheral friction pads (14). The smaller plate (15) has a peripheral flange (27) which interlocks with the larger plate. The larger plate includes curved slots (30) with a hole at the end of each, for resilience. In the centre of the lower edge is a groove (24). The upper edge has a vertical cap (33) extending outwards, increasing the resilience. The flange (27) of the smaller plate has a lug (23) protruding from it to fit into groove (24) in the low edge. Each side of the lug has a small arm (26) projecting from it which is bent up and used to lock the lug in the slot.
