Abstract

1446445 Friction clutches FREN-DO SpA 15 Aug 1973 [29 Dec 1972] 38534/73 Heading F2C In a diaphragm spring friction clutch having a cover 1, spring 9 and presser plate 5 the fulcra of the spring 9 on the cover 1 are formed by a raised annular ridge 13 of the cover on one side of the spring 9 and portions 14 of the cover 1 which are bent round to pass through apertures 12 of the spring 9 and contact the opposite side of the spring, the portions 14 also constituting a torsional connection between spring 9 and cover 1. The guiding of the presser plate 5 in the cover is effected, in the illustrated embodiment, by portions of the cover which are pressed in radially and have notches 17 milled in them, the resulting axially extending ribs 16 engaging axial grooves 18 of the presser plate 5. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 7 to 12, not shown) the guiding ribs are individually pressed out from the wall of the cover 1. An annular ring 19 interconnects spring 9 and plate 5. In the alternative embodiment the ring 13 has gaps in it, as does the portion of the presser plate 5 contacted by the spring 9, to allow for ventilation and cooling of the clutch.
