Abstract

1,115,127. Friction clutches. FICHTEL & SACHS A.G. 18 April, 1966 [17 April, 1965], No. 16820/66. Headings F2C and F2U. In a motor-vehicle friction clutch engaged by a diaphragm, or helical coil (Figs. 9 and 10, not shown), spring, the pressure plate 1 is formed of light metal coated, on its clutching face, with a sprayed on film 2 of steel or bronze. The pressure plate 1 is axially resiliently attached to the clutch housing by radial blade springs (8), (17), (Figs. 3, 9 and 10, not shown), which in the Figs. 9 and 10 embodiment have holes through which the nested coil springs (21) project. As shown, the diaphragm spring 4 acts at its outer edge on the pressure plate 1 through a steel wire ring 3 embedded therein, the ring 3 having a round, rectangular, square or frustoconical cross-section (Figs. 5 to 8, not shown), the edge of the ring facing the diaphragm spring being rounded in Figs. 6 to 8.
