Abstract

A shuttle-less loom has two weft pickers attached to lances so that a weft yarn is advanced to the centre of the warp by one picker where it is gathered by the other weft picker and moved across the rest of the warp. Each weft picker is identical and includes a main body with a pointed front end with a spring biassed clamp arm for holding the weft yarn. Associated with the clamp arm is cutter blade for cutting the weft yarn, and behind the clamp arm is a guide for guiding the weft yarn. Because both weft pickers are the same, they are cheap to produce.
