Abstract

The arming device for a portable firearm has a hard grip (18) with an operating lever (11) projecting one side which operates a rack and pinion drive (10). It incorporates an electric generator with a magnet (1) which passes through a coil (2) with connectors (3) for an electric pulse. A soft iron pole piece (4) is separated from the magnet by a leaf spring (5). The striker (6) is retained by a pivot arm (7) ready to transmit the force of the pole piece, and has a spring (8) behind it, operated by the rack and pinion. The mechanism is actuated by a release trigger (19) on the other side to the operating lever.
