Abstract
735,403. Moving figure toys. WELLS & CO., Ltd., A., and WELLS, A. W. J. July 16, 1954 [Aug. 12, 1953], No. 22223/53. Class 132(3). A toy representing a marksman has remote control for causing the figure to withdraw a pistol from its holster, bring it to the firing position and thereafter to return the pistol to the holster, a cap-firing mechanism operable by remote control also being provided. An arm 17 of a figure 10 is normally maintained by gravity in a position such that a pistol 14 is in a holster 15, the lower end of an arm operating rod 25 resting on the low part of a cam 24 formed on a quadrant 21. A pin 28 (Fig. 5) on the underside of the quadrant is engageable with a pawl 37 which operates a cap feed pawl 33 and a firing hammer 35. Upon pressing the trigger of an actuating pistol connected by Bowden cable to the mechanism in the base 11 of the figure, the quadrant 21 is rotated, and a cap is fired simultaneously with the raising of the figure's arm by the rod 25 and cam 21. In a modification, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), remote controls are provided to enable two arms of the figure to be operated independently. Alternatively the two arms and the cap-firing mechanism may be operated by a single remote control. In a further modification, Fig. 10, the pistol and arm are separate and the pistol is "drawn" as the result of attraction between magnets 55, 56 when the arm 17 is moved by means of an actuating trigger 116 from its normally raised position downwardly and rearwardly past the holster 15. Attraction between the magnets then causes the pistol and lower part of the arm 17 to become aligned, and release of the trigger 116 allows spring means to urge the arm 17 to the raised position, the pistol being guided past the holster by a lip 57. After the cap-firing mechanism has been operated by an actuating trigger 16, the trigger 116 is again pressed and the arm 17 moves to the rear, the front of the pistol dropping into the holster via a slot formed in the front thereof. Release of trigger 116 then allows the arm to move to its normal raised position, the pistol being trapped in the holster. The pistol may be attachable to the arm by means of an eyelet engageable by the arm.
