Abstract

The device is of the type which employs a cannula or tube into which the coil is preloaded. A push rod which can slide inside the tube is used to discharge the coil from the tube during insertion. The plunger and the coil are linked together by a cord. The end of the tube is fitted with removable, coaxial funnel through which the coil is pulled into the tube by means of the cord. The tube pref. has a lateral hole through which cord is pulled as a loop when pulling the coil into the funnel. The cord loop is pref. retained outside the lateral hole by sliding through a retaining ring. Used to pull surplus cord to the outside of the tube before using the push rod. Insertion tube is easy to preload. There is no danger of squashing the coil in the tube and spoiling the wings by tangling.
