Abstract

La présente invention a pour objet un procédé pour l'éthylation de mono-alkylbenzènes dont le substituant alkyl comporte 1 ou 2 atomes de carbone qui consiste à le mettre au contact d'éthylène en présence d'hydrogène dans des conditions de conversion à savoir une temperature comprise entre 350 et 500 degrés C environ, une pression supérieure à la pression atmosphérique mais inférieure à 28 bars et un rapport molaire hydrogène/éthylène compris approximativement entre 0,5 et 10 et en présence d'un catalyseur comprenant une zéolite à base d'aluminosilicate cristallin. Elle est caractérisée en ce que la zéolite a une activité exprimée en termes de valeur alpha, comprise entre 2 et 5 000 environ, une capacité de sorption de xylène supérieure à y g/100 g de zeolite et un temps de sorption d'orthoxylène pour 30 % de cette capacité supérieur à 10 minutes, cette capacité de sorption et ce temps de sorption étant mesurés à 120 degrés C et sous une pression de xylène de 4,5 +- 0,8 mm de mercure, et a en outre un rapport silice/alumine d'au moins 12 et un indice de contrainte compris entre 1 et 12 environ, ce procédé d'éthylation donnant lieu à une réduction substantielle de la vitesse de vieillissement par rapport aux procédés connus mis en oeuvre en l'absence d'hydrogène. Elle se rapporte à un procédé pour l'éthylation de mono-alkylbenzènes.
