Abstract

L'invention concerne l'isomérisation d'un hydrocarbure alkylaromatique. Selon l'invention, on met une charge comprenant l'hydrocarbure et de l'hydrogène en contact avec un catalyseur contenant jusqu'à 3 % de platine, jusqu'à 3 % de rhénium et au moins 1,2 % en poids de chlorure combiné sur de l'alumine servant de support, en présence de 1,5 à 150 ppm en volume de chlorure libre et d'une quantité d'eau non supérieure à 10 ppm en volume, sur base de la charge précitée, dans des conditions d'isomérisation comprenant une température variant de 371 à 482 degrés C et une pression d'hydrogène variant de 6,89 à 20,68 bars. Le procédé conforme à l'invention est d'une mise en oeuvre particulièrement économique.
