Abstract

An active moving element is controlled by a controller enabling a series of defined operations along two mutually opposed paths alternately, including stopping and successive movements along each path. The operations are predetermined by a programme which is effected using a logic system. The controller ensures equally satisfactory operation in both directions and permits sufficient stopping points to be incorporated in order to fulfil the process operating requirements, in partic. of a mechanical arm with linear or angular motion. The active element(1) movement is directly linked with that of a moving unit which works with a fixed element(5). One element has attached single direction positive stops(14) acting on retractable stops(15) mounted on a stop case(4) and controlled by the logic system.
