Abstract
A digital control system for a machine tool controls the machine in a predetermined sequence of operations. The operator is able to intervene at any moment to convert or modify a particular condition or state. Three movement controllers (114, 214, 314) control movement in their respective axes (Z, X, Y). These controllers are associated with sub-monitor units (100, 200, 300) with inputs from a sequence unit (400) which determines successive signals which are applied to the sub-monitor units as input signals (180a, 280a, 380a). Read input (140a, 240a, 340a) and movement input (130a, 230a, 330a) signals are also applied to the submonitor units when the sequence unit is stepped by a common clock pulse generator (401) to maintain synchronism for the three controllers. This is effected in response to a programmed sequence of events.
