Abstract

The drive appts. induces partial rotation in a pile tube or well tube alternatively in the two opposing directions to assist driving into the ground. The system achieves low weight and is inexpensive to mfr. and transport. The driven tube has diametrically opposite external flat surfaces, each with a row of holes uniformly spaced over the tube length. A v-shaped frame has bolts on the inner surface of the open ends of its two members. The bolts engage in the holes in the tube sides when the screw spindle is tightened. The frame members are pivoted at the apex of the V and have a roller running in short track. Alternating partial rotation of the tube is induced by attachment of the frame apex to an excavator arm.
