823,973. Rotary distributers. HARTLEYS (STOKE-ON-TRENT) Ltd. Aug. 28, 1957 [Aug. 29, 1956; Nov. 22, 1956], Nos. 26335/56 and 35707/56. Class 69 (3). A rotary distributer for sewage or other liquids comprises an electric motor mounted at the outer end of one of the distributer arms and connected with a traction wheel or roller which is free to adapt itself to inequalities in the level of a track on which it runs. As shown, a distributer arm 15 carries a base-plate 20 with an electric motor 21, the output shaft 22 of which drives a traction wheel or roller 34 through a coupling 23, shaft extension 24, spur wheels 25 and 30, countershaft 29 and a chain 35 on sprockets 36 and 37, the wheel or roller 34 being mounted on a trailing arm 32 pivoted to the countershaft 29 and carrying an adjustable weight 38. The spur wheels 25 and 30 and the sprockets 36 and 37 can be changed to give any gear ratio. The base-plate 20 is pivotally mounted on the distributer arm to allow radial setting of the wheel or roller. The weight of the driving unit is counterbalanced on the opposite distributer arm. The second Provisional Specification also refers to an arrangement with a water wheel as the driving means.
