Abstract

La présente invention concerne un catalyseur et un procédé améliorés pour produire un mélange de xylènes voisin de l'équilibre à partir d'un courant de charge comprenant de l'éthylbenzène et des xylènes mélangés. Le catalyseur combine un constituant d'hydrogénation-dés-hydrogénation contenant du platine sur un support d'alumine avec une mordénite de la forme hydrogène ayant moins d'environ 0,3 équivalent de cations de métaux alcalins et alcalino-ter-reux par atome-gramme d'aluminium et un rapport molaire silice/alumine supérieur à environ 9-11 pour 1 et inférieur à environ 17 pour 1. Application à la production de xylènes.
