Abstract

Cementitious construction is formed by prefashioning a sheet of plastics material (pref. PVC of (high density) polyethylene) into the desired shape, (one of the surfaces of the sheet carrying a fibrous cloth), and applying (glass) fibre reinforced cementitious matl. to the fibrous cloth side of the plastics sheet. The cement mixt may be in a dehydrated form so as to be pliable when applied to the sheet, e.g. by spraying. Used in conditions were resistance to chemicals is required together with weight, resistance to fire and adaptability to installation techniques e.g. drain pipes susceptible to attack by H2S or H2SO4. Good rigidity and stability are obtd., and the pipes formed are free from defects and ruptures.
