Abstract
A thermal insulation system can be fitted conveniently to old buildings in particular in which the rafters and joints are unevenly spaced, to give an airtight, smooth, uniform surface which can be painted or papered. Panels are formed from chip boards backed by a layer of synthetic foam. Along their edges the boards and the plates have a cutout which when they are aligned forms a groove for a strip forming a tongue. This is slightly larger than the groove and is fitted when the panels are screwed to the supports. The glue for the foam is applied in a strand along the edges of the boards and at points on their surfaces.
