Abstract

The revolving sealing ring (1) is connected to the shaft, and the fixed seal ring (2) is connected to the seal housing (4) by means of the bellows (3). The bellows apply a pressure on the fixed ring. Sealing gas is introduced at low rotational speed and at standstill. The gas is admitted by the pipe (5) which extends to the circular groove (6). The pipe end is fitted with a throttle (7) at the top of the circular groove. The gas pressure maintains the gap (8) and the fixed ring has external grooves (9) in the form of a spiral, which allows the gas to the volume (10). At high rotational speed the generated gas pressure keeps the faces apart.
