Abstract

The diesel engine has a starter (6) supplied from the battery (1) through the starter switch (2). the cylinders have glow lamps (7) which are heated for starting purposes. The lamps are supplied through a switch (10) operated by a relay (11) energised through the contacts (13) of a thermostat in the engine cooling water circuit. The relay circuit contains a switch (12) worked by a second relay (14) which is energised through the contacts (15) of a pressure switch in the engine oil circuit. The control keeps the starting glow lamps alight after the motor has stopped and before the engine has warmed up. It does this with a simple and cheap circuit.
