Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'une 4,4' édihydroxydiphénylsulfone. Le procédé consiste à faire réagir un phénol avec l'anhydride sulfurique en présence de fluorure d'hydrogène liquide pour former une 4,4'-dihydroxydiphénylsulfone. On préfère utiliser un excès molaire de fluorure d'hydrogène et des proportions stoechiométriques d'anhydride sulfurique et de phénol ou un léger excès d'anhydride sulfurique par rapport au phénol. La 4,4'-dihydroxydiphénylsulfone peut être utilisée comme précurseur de polymérisation, dans l'industrie du tannage des peaux et l'industrie du cuir, et pour le revêtement électrolytique.
