Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a procedimiento para la síntesis de 2-(isopropilsulfinil)-benzotiazol, que consiste en hacer reaccionar una relación molar de 1:1 a 1:3 de 2-mercaptabensotiazol a propileno, en un recipiente de presión, en presencia de una cantidad catalítica de un ácido arensulfónico monomérico o polimérico, opcionalmente en presencia de un solvente orgánico inerte y en donde la reacción se conduce a 125-200 grados C durante un período de tiempo suficiente para efectuar la formación de 2-(isopropiltio)-benzotiazol, y a continuación hacer reaccionar el 2-(isopropiltio)-benzotiazol con un exceso de 0-30 por ciento de hipoclorito de sodio acuoso bajo condiciones de homogeneización mecánica de alta frecuencia, a 10-40 grados C, en presencia de NaHSO4 y urea, la cantidad de NaHSO4 ó KHSO4 siendo suficiente para resultar en un pH final de la mezcla de reacción de 1.8-4-0, y la cantidad de urea siendo suficiente para suprimir la formación de más de 5 por ciento en peso de 2-(isopripilsulfonil)-benzotiazol en el producto final.
