Abstract

Procédés de fabrication des carbures de métaux et notamment de carbure de titane. On enflamme un mélange contenant de 80 à 88 % en poids de poudre de titane technique et 20 à 12 % en poids de carbone finement divisé, dans lequel se déroule ensuite une réaction exothermique au régime de combustion couche par couche avec formation de sous-produits gazeux; le processus est réalisé dans une enveloppe poreuse qui s'oppose aux projections du mélange, avec refroidissement intense de ladite enveloppe et évacuation des sous-produits gazeux à travers cette enveloppe. Application à la fabrication de produits abrasifs, réfractaires et resistant à l'usure en sidérurgie et métallurgie des non-ferreux.
