Abstract

The timing and duration of excitation of the ignition coil is controlled by its relation with the angle of retardation. The engine cycle is divided angularly into two different types of sectors; the one in which calculations are made, the other when control is executed. The signal corresponds to the engine cycle sector. The output signal, is fed to the circuit which thereby controls the ignition timing and duration. The system makes corrections to the retard angle at high and low speeds. It can be applied to polycylindrical engines using either analogue or digital circuits.
