Abstract

The dressing comprises a highly absorbent pad of rectangular cross-section, enclosed on all faces with a thin sheet of flexible, waterproof material. Liquid entry to the pad from the body-contacting or inside face is via perforations through the waterproof sheet on that face only. The entire inside face with perforations is covered with a flexible, permeable sheet of textile or non-woven material sealed all around its edges to the waterproof sheet. The pad cannot leak at the sides, ends, or outside face, only through the inner face perforations into the absorbent sheet in contact with the wearer. This provides tactile warning so that the wearer is advised to take appropriate action.
