Abstract
Porous refractory inorganic oxide particles have an average bulk density of 0.25-0.4 g/cm3 and 0.6-0.8 cm3/g of the total pore vol. is connected with pores of average dia. is not 600 angstroms. The particles pref. consist of alumina, which may be impregnated with various metals and may contain other elements. The particles are used specifically as catalyst for reforming petrol or for the dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons. The particles combine low bulk density with high micropore vol. and give catalysts with improved activity.
