Abstract

1536715 Carbonaceous catalyst supports AMERICAN CYANAMID CO 1 March 1976 [19 March 1975 (2)] 8161/76 Heading B1E [Also in Division Cl] A catalyst composition has a porous particulate support comprising carbon black particles in a packed relationship and a carbon binder, the particles having a size in the range of 80-5000 angstrom units, and the particulate having a pore size distribution exhibiting one or more peaks at a pore radius in excess of 10 angstrom units, and an activator. The activator is Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir or Pt when the composition is used in hydrogenation [see Division C2] or Mo or W promoted by Co or Ni when used in hydrodesulphurisation.
