Abstract

1402207 Hydrocarbon conversion catalyst SIEMENS AG 16 Feb 1973 [3 March 1972 14 Dec 1972] 7861/73 Heading B1E [Also in Divisions C5 and F1] A catalyst for conversion of fuel hydrocarbons comprises a refractory oxide support and an active component containing the oxides of lanthanium, cobalt, nickel and uranium. Specified support materials are alumina, magnesia, silica, zirconia, titania and mixtures thereof. Preferred supports are alpha-alumina and magnesia-alumina spinel. The support may be a porous unitary body in the form of a sintered tile having a plurality of parallel throughbores. The catalyst is formed by impregnation with compounds of-the metals and then thermally decomposing them to give the oxides. An organic or inorganic filler may be added during the preparation and then burnt out to form pores. The examples describe catalysts in which the support is a mixture of alpha-alumina and magnesia.
