Abstract
1524886 Catalytic absorbents for sulphur dioxide NORTON CO 22 Sept 1976 [22 Sept 1975] 39273/76 Heading B1E [Also in Division C1A] An alumina catalyst support which may be used in removing sulphur oxides from gas streams comprises copper oxide deposited on a porous sintered alumina body, said CuO being capable of reaction with SO 2 to form CuSO 4 , the alumina of said body consisting mainly of chi alumina and said body including a second oxide in an amount which is at least 0.1% by wt. but less than the amount of alumina, said second oxide being selected from the group consisting of zirconium oxide, barium oxide, calcium oxide, and mixtures thereof.
