Abstract

Procédé pour la préparation d'un mélange thermoplastique élastomère à base d'un caoutchouc polyoléfinique et d'une polyoléfine thermoplastique. Le mélange contient : 1. 25 à 85 %-poids d'un copolymère essentiellement amorphe d'éthylène et d' alpha -oléfine avec une cristallinité inférieure à 4 %-poids et une résistance à la traction d'au moins 10 kg/cm**2, et 2. 15 à 75 %-poids d'un copolymère séquencé essentiellement cristallin de propylène et d'éthylène avec une teneur en éthylène de 1 à 25 %-poids et une cristallinité supérieure à 25 %-poids. Les mélanges à base de ces copolymères séquencés de propylène ont un travail plus facile et une résistance à la traction plus élevée que ceux à base des homopolymères de propylène. On peut incorporer dans les mélanges 20 à 200 parties d'huile par 100 parties de copolymère amorphe d'éthylène et d' alpha -oléfine pour obtenir une amélioration ultérieure de la traitabilité et de l'allongement à la rupture. Les mélanges peuvent être préparés selon les procédés connus pour le caoutchouc et les matières plastiques au moyen de l'appareillage usuel à des températures de 170 à 200 degrés C. Les mélanges de l'invention, en s'étendant de produits souples et caoutchouteux à des produits rigides et résistants au choc, se prêtent à d'innombrables applications, spécialement à la fabrication de gaines pour câbles et pare-chocs d'automobiles.
